Little kids are meant to run and play and have fun learning about the world around them. If done right, the kids won’t even know they’re learning! There are a lot of ways to teach kids about math, science, music, and art that are fun. Teaching this way should be second nature to your child’s day care center. The curriculum at our day care center will not only prepare them for kindergarten, it will prepare them to learn. Here are three easy ways A Child’s Place at the Ranches makes learning fun.
- We play games. Depending on the kind of game, playing can teach kids critical thinking, strategy, and even physical coordination. From matching games to memory games and hide and seek to tag, your child’s brain is learning. At our day care center, we play matching games, running games, and we leave plenty of free time so kids can play the games they choose. Playing games at home or in the car will also help them learn about the world around them. Car games can include I Spy, 20 Questions, or finding the alphabet on the signs you drive by. At home, you can play inside games such as Memory, Sequence, or Uno, or you can play outside games like tag, sardines, and kick the can. Not only will the games you play increase brain power, but the time you spend with your kids will build important bonds.
- We listen to music. Both intentionally and unintentionally. Memorizing the words to songs builds memory muscles in the brain, making other things easier to remember (multiplication tables, poems, formulas). Listening to background music (without words) can increase the ability to focus on a task, while simultaneously lessen anxiety and depression.
- We create. Building with blocks, playing with bubbles, painting or coloring pictures, dancing, and other projects allow the kids at our day care center to use all their senses to learn. These activities are critical for brain development and will provide a solid foundation as your child begins learning at a higher level.
At A Child’s Place at the Ranches, your favorite day care center, we know how important it is for kids to love learning. It may seem like they’re just having fun, but they are really beginning to understand how the world works, how they fit into it, and how to find joy in learning. We’re glad to be part of that.
